Changes in v8.3
PacketFence v8.3 brings many new features such as:
SSL inspection portal module

MAC spoofing detection based on device profiling

Clickatell authentication source support

new equipment support
... and much more. PacketFence v8.3 also brings tons of enhancements and bug fixes for improved stability. This release is considered ready for production use and upgrading from previous versions is strongly advised.
What's Coming in v9
Scheduled to be released in April, PacketFence v9 will feature numerous major improvements. Among them, there are:
new web admin interfacing consuming our API and new GUI functionalities

new Security Events module replacing Violations to improve usability

Golang-based services for WMI, Nessus, Rapid7 and others, improving the scalability of PacketFence

database schema improvements increasing performance and data retention

Debian 9 support
