New Web-based Configuration Tool!
June 26, 2012

After many weeks of hard work from my colleagues, we’re glad to release a sneak preview of the brand new Web-based configuration tool for PacketFence.

This has been combined with our PacketFence on an USB stick initiative. It’s now very easy to simply boot the PacketFence "Live CD" appliance on a USB stick (or CD), go over the Web-based configuration and have a PacketFence PoC or deployment running in a matter of minutes! Everything will be running of the USB key so no need to install anythingon existing laptops, servers or desktop computers to showcase or test PacketFence.

Note that we’re still continuing our work on the Web administrative interface rewrite. It’ll look much like the new Web-based configuration tool and there will be soon no more CLI operations involved in the management of PacketFence.

Download the USB image immediately!

If you are on Windows, you can grab the tool to write the image to a USB key.

Note that you require a USB key of 4GB or more to test it. For those who prefer having a quick look without trying the "Live CD", here are some screenshots of the new GUI:

This is currently all available from the feature/catalyst-configurator branch on github, to be merged in devel.

As usual, testing and comments are welcome!
