DescriptionSnort pid path should be defined on the new snorts

Aug 26 17:55:44 ds3 snort[4134]: PID path stat checked out ok, PID path set to /var/run/
Aug 26 17:55:44 ds3 snort[4134]: Writing PID "4134" to file "/var/run//snort_eth1.pid"

now posts it to /var/run
there pf has no rights to write the pid file, hense on a stop:

Aug 26 17:54:40 ds3 snort[3957]: Could not remove pid file /var/run//snort_eth1.pid: Permission denied
Aug 26 17:54:40 ds3 snort[3957]: Snort exiting

Can you try with the RHEL6 snort package instead of the F13 version?

We will drop the pid in /usr/local/pf/var/run instead of /var/run.

Specifying --pid-path on snort startup. We have not explictly tested on RHEL/CentOS 6 yet but we will in QA. Please re-open if necessary.
