| Description | Noticed a lot of Users Agents of the type CaptiveNetworkSupport-94.1 wispr CaptiveNetworkSupport/1.0 wispr etc. A little googling releaved: http://forums.mactalk.com.au/31/66812-iphone-3-0-wireless-captive-portal-support.html [^] We should look if we want to ban these User Agent strings at the httpd level, use them to detect iPhones / iPods or leverage their goal. To know this we'll have to investigate at what this does exactly. | |||||||

Those ipods things are certainly not behaving in a friendly manner on our captive portal. In some cases, a few hundred hits by this CaptiveNetworkSupport useragent on our captive portal over a 3 minute period. This, combined with the slowness of our user web pages, creates a situation where the server is unusually loaded. Increasing priority. |
